Dr. Alsaab is an experienced Interventional Cardiologist working at Northwest
Houston Heart Center. He completed a comprehensive advanced training program
for complex coronary, peripheral, and structural heart disease at the Phoenix Heart
Center. Prior to returning for additional highly specialized training in Phoenix, Dr.
Alsaab was Director of Interventional Cardiology Services at Somerset Hospital in
Somerset, Pennsylvania. During his three years at the helm of the interventional
program at Somerset Hospital, his cardiac cath lab was awarded the Silver Award by
the American College of Cardiology for Myocardial Infarction Care. He also achieved
recognition for top 10% in the Nation for Patient Safety Cardiac Care and Number
One in Market for Interventional Coronary Safety.
Dr Alsaab has trained in some of the most prestigious institutions in both Canada
and the United States. He completed his Cardiology residency at the world-
renowned Ottawa Heart Institute in Ottawa, Canada. He then continued his training
at Harvard Medical School, Brigham and Women’s Hospital. It was there that he
mastered the skills of PET imaging, under the instruction of Dr. Marcelo Di Carli, a
pioneer in the field. Dr. Alsaab will bring this skill to Northwest Houston Heart
Center, one of the only three centers in the Houston area to perform cardiac PET
imaging.
His interventional cardiology training took place at Mt Sinai Medical Center in New
York, NY, under the guidance of Dr. Samin Sharma. Dr Sharma is one of the most
highly recognized and astute operators in the field of interventional cardiology, and
he performs the highest number of percutaneous coronary interventions in the state
of New York and in the nation as a whole.
Throughout his many years of training, Dr. Alsaab has participated in multiple
clinical trials, spanning the practice of cardiology, including research in the area of
acute myocardial infarction therapy, ASD closures, and percutaneous mitral valve
treatments.
Dr Alsaab possesses expertise in a wide range of coronary, peripheral, structural,
vascular, and endovascular procedures, including complex coronary lesions, carotid
artery stenting, endovascular aortic aneurysm repair, venous thrombectomy and
ablation, ASD and PFO closure, and valvoplasty.
Dr. Alsaab is eager to bring his expertise and outstanding patient care to the
Northwest Houston Heart Center.
